Lyric Coloratura Soprano

Lily Berthold is an operatic soprano based in Los Angeles. After making her professional debut in the summer of 2023 as Die Zauberflöte’s ill-fated heroine Pamina, Lily has quickly become an in demand singer. The young soprano is making her mark on the opera scene throughout California, having already performed as a soloist with many notable companies statewide (Opera SLO, Pacific Lyric Association, Lyric Opera Orange County, Mission Opera & more). Lily made many role debuts in her 2024-2025 season, including: Gilda (Rigoletto), Adina (L’elisir D’amore), Frasquita (Carmen), (Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), & Valencienne (The Merry Widow). Upcoming, she can be seen as a chorister with the San Diego Opera in their 2025-2026 season.

In competitions, Lily won 1st Place in the 2025 Whittier Regional Symphony Young Artist Competition, Finalist in the 2025 Burbank Philharmonic Young Artist Competition, Semi-Finalist in the 2024 Palm Springs Opera Guild Competition, 1st Place in the 2024 Sigma Alpha Iota PAC Aria Competition, and 3rd Place in the 2024 Randy Nelson Vocal Competition.

Ms. Berthold is in the first year of her Master’s Degree, attending Bob Cole Conservatory of Music (BCCM) at California State Univ. Long Beach, graduating in Spring 2026. In her first year at BCCM, she sang the role of Pamina for BCCM Opera’s grand production of Die Zauberflöte, as well as scenes in the roles of Adina (L’elisir D’amore) & Donna Anna (Don Giovanni).
